Spending Our Energy On What Truly Matters

We work so hard and make it our top priority to make a living, become somebody in this world, and achieve success and comfort. Even many ministers sadly concern themselves more with the “success” of their ministry over the success of their prayer life, Bible study and intimacy with Christ. However, as Christ followers, we are called to just the opposite. Jesus gave up His divine privileges for our eternal salvation, yet we, as Christians, find it too extreme to follow in His footsteps. He laid down His life for the undeserving (us!). His agenda was the salvation of others at His own expense. He did it “for the joy set before Him” - the eternal salvation of all who would receive Him. We are called to follow in His footsteps. Yes, we should work hard at making a living, but let us work harder at always maintaining intimacy with Christ and making His commandment to “make disciples” our top priority EVERY day of this very, very short time we have before we stand before Him on that final day.

Do whatever it takes, even if it means getting rid of your TV, Netflix, delete those apps/games that consume irretrievable moments with Him. Lose sleep, if needs be, to spend more time in prayer. Count it all joy, my brothers and sisters, to lay down your life, take up your cross, and follow Him! It WILL be worth it all.

Set your sights on eternity - it will be here in the blink of an eye!

“I once thought these other things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, EVERYTHING ELSE IS WORTHLESS WHEN COMPARED WITH THE INFINITE VALUE OF KNOWING CHRIST JESUS MY LORD. FOR HIS SAKE, I HAVE DISCARDED EVERYTHING ELSE, COUNTING IT ALL AS GARBAGE, SO THAT I COULD GAIN CHRIST AND BECOME ONE WITH HIM.” (Philippians 3:7-9a)
